St. Catharines, Ontario — The 2024 St. Catharines World Rowing Organizing Committee is excited to announce that Barenaked Ladies will headline a celebration concert in support of the St. Catharines 2024 World Rowing Championships with special guest Scott Helman. The concert will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Meridian Centre.
The concert is presented by Niagara College and the Tourism Partnership of Niagara and will celebrate the upcoming 2024 World Rowing Senior, Under 23 and Under 19 Championships coming to St. Catharines — which will take place from August 18 to 25 at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course on Henley Island. The 2024 World Rowing Championships will mark the third occasion in the event’s history that it will have taken place in St. Catharines.
Presale tickets for the concert will be made available on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 10:00am - 10:00pm EST. Those interested in presale tickets must sign up for the Sport Niagara Newsletter to receive an exclusive presale code. Following the presale period, tickets will be available to the general public starting at 10:00am EST on Friday, December 8, with prices beginning at just $55.00. All tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster.
Following their April 2024 “In Flight” UK tour, Barenaked Ladies will return to the City of St. Catharines. Having previously performed in St. Catharines at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in 2017 for their 1 Five 0 Tour, this will mark the first time the pop-rock band will hit the stage at the Meridian Centre for what could be a preview of a very busy summer for the band.
Scott Helman is also set to return to St. Catharines after headlining a festival show during the Canada Games in August 2022. The Toronto-born singer-songwriter had a busy November with the release of his new single, collarbone, and his “Back Together Tour” that took him to seven Canadian cities and wrapped up on November 30
“We are thrilled to welcome Canadian musical legends Barenaked Ladies and the talents of Scott Helman to the stage at the Meridian Centre this April in celebration of the upcoming 2024 World Rowing Championships,” said Mayor Mat Siscoe. “It's pre-events such as this fundraising concert that will support the downtown businesses and increase the overall economic impact to the City of St. Catharines and Niagara.”

Known for its legacy in hosting major competitions, including two previous World Rowing Championships, the Henley Rowing Course will bring together 2,500 athletes from over 80 countries in what is the biggest and most important World Rowing event of the season.

Barenaked Ladies seront en tête d'affiche au Meridian Centre lors d’un spectacle célébratoire en soutien aux Championnats du monde de World Rowing senior, des moins de 23 ans et des moins de 19 ans 2024
St. Catharines, Ontario — Le comité organisateur World Rowing de St. Catharines 2024 est ravi d'annoncer que le groupe Barenaked Ladies, accompagné de leur invité spécial Scott Helman, seront en tête d’affiche d’un concert pour célébrer et soutenir les Championnats du monde d'aviron de St. Catharines 2024. Le spectacle aura lieu le jeudi 25 avril 2024 au Centre Meridian.
Ce spectacle, présenté par le Collège Niagara et Tourism Partnership Niagara, célébrera les Championnats du monde d'aviron senior, des moins de 23 ans et des moins de 19 ans qui auront lieu à St. Catharines du 18 au 25 août 2024 sur le parcours du Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course situé sur l'île Henley.
Les billets pour le concert seront disponibles en prévente de 10 h à 22 h HNE, le jeudi 7 décembre 2023. Les intéressés devront s'inscrire à l’infolettre de Sport Niagara pour recevoir un code de prévente exclusif. Les billets seront en vente au grand public à partir de 10 h HNE, le vendredi 8 décembre, avec des prix commençant à seulement 55,00 $. Tous les billets sont en vente sur Ticketmaster.
Suite à leur tournée « In Flight » au Royaume-Uni en avril 2024, Barenaked Ladies sera fin prêt à rentrer à St. Catharines. En 2017, le groupe a présenté sa tournée « 1 Five 0 » sur la scène du FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. Ce sera donc une première sur la scène du Meridian Centre; le spectacle offrira un avant-goût d’un été qui s’annonce très chargé pour le groupe pop-rock.
Scott Helman sera également de retour à St. Catharines suite à sa performance en tête d’affiche lors des Jeux du Canada en août 2022. L'auteur-compositeur-interprète né à Toronto a connu un mois de novembre chargé avec la sortie de son nouveau single, « collarbone », et de sa tournée « Back Together Tour » qui s’est terminée le 30 novembre après des arrêts dans 7 villes canadiennes.

Les championnats se dérouleront sur le parcours historique du Royal Canadian Henley qui a accueilli plusieurs compétitions majeures dont deux précédents Championnats du monde d'aviron. Ce parcours de renommée internationale rassemblera 2 500 athlètes de plus de 80 pays lors du plus grand et du plus important événement de la saison.
